Rihanna’s Revival

Emily Owens

If you haven’t already heard, Rihanna will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show this year! After turning down the gig in 2018, she finally accepted the opportunity to show down at the Super Bowl this year.

The 2023 Super Bowl is actually her first time in seven years publicly getting into the music game again. The last time Rihanna dropped an album was back in 2016, and ever since then the artist has been saying she’s still hard at work on her ninth album. There has been a lot of pressure on her lately with her newborn and possible new album in the works, but I’m sure Bad Girl RiRi will not disappoint.

This is also the first Super Bowl that won’t be sponsored by Pepsi, but by Apple Music. In an interview, a member of the partner strategy for the NFL said “We couldn’t think of a more appropriate partner for the world’s most watched musical performance than Apple Music.”

After asking around 40 Lucy Beckham students what song they wanted to see performed at the superbowl, the number one answer was Diamonds. Four Five Seconds was a very close second by only 1 point.
