May 15, 2023
With the school year coming to a close, soccer, lacrosse, and track are wrapping up their seasons. Beckham’s first ever seniors are approaching their graduation, and some athletes got to finish their high school careers on a good note with a winning season.
Beckham lacrosse had a record season, with both the boys and girls making it to the state championship in Columbia, SC. The boys were able to come away with a dominating win over Christ Church, 20-13. Their final record for the season was 13-4, 2 of those wins being over out of state teams. They finished 5-0 for their region, holding the top spot for AAAA for the second consecutive year. Congratulations to the boys lacrosse team for their hard work and success this year!
The girls lacrosse team also put up a tough performance, falling to Oceanside 12-6 in the state championship. The girls finished their season with an overall record of 14-6, and 8-1 in their region. Congrats to the girls lacrosse team for their impressive run this season!
Following the lacrosse state championships, boys and girls soccer finished their seasons with runs in the playoffs. The boys had an overall record of 8-13, losing to AC Flora in the second round of playoffs. The girls finished with an overall record of 19-4-1, losing in the third round of playoffs to James Island, 3-2, following a weather delay. The girls however had a very impressive season, setting all new records for Lucy Beckham, including bringing home their first ever tournament trophy from the Viking Cup. Congratulations to both the boys and girls soccer teams on their 2023 season.
Lastly, Lucy Beckham track and field is coming to a close. The boys and girls both took home the region champions trophies. This was a big effort by both teams, and Beckham scored points in events such as sprints, jumps, throws, vault, hurdles and distance. Not to mention, this was the first time in Lucy Beckham history that the girls have won the region championship! Congratulations to both the girls and boys Track and Field teams.
