Many people think of today as just another day of the week, but today is special. Today is a day to celebrate and acknowledge mental health around the world. On Oct. 10, 1992, Mental Health Day started as a way to change bad or dangerous habits in an effort to improve people’s mental health. It started out as a campaign in France and grew to be a global holiday. Countries from around the world gave their feedback with a total of 27 different countries joining the idea. This holiday ended up helping the lives of people in countries around the world.
Most days, people wake up unaware of the important history of the following date. On, Sep. 20, 1850, Washington, D.C. abolished the Slave Trade; despite this being almost 180 years ago, it still impacts our country today. This event is called the Compromise of 1850, and it was extremely life-changing for African Americans in the country. We as a nation came together and decided on a compromise that changed America for many generations. So as you go about your daily routines, try to keep in mind the important history that each day holds. If you get the chance, look up the date on Google!
