The Bengal Beat sat down with an inspiring athlete, Marin Scholar, to get an inside look on her busy life. Scholar is a 3-time world champion for dance. She describes the feeling of winning the world championship as, “…indescribable.” Scholar is now on three cheerleading teams in Charleston. She cheers for the Lucy Beckhamn varsity team as well as two all star teams. She has lived in 3 major cities and has done her sport in each of them. She was born in Pittsburgh and has lived in Miami and Charleston. Scholar says her favorite place she’s lived is Charleston because of the people who live here. Her parents have always supported her by coming to competitions, and pay quite a bit of money for her to cheer. Her biggest role model however is her sister. She has won worlds alongside her sister and is now on a level six team with her. Many may think sharing a team with your older sister may be challenging but Scholar says, “Even though we fight, we usually work well together within the confinements of our cheer team. She has also always been a role model for me to look up to as an athlete.” Scholar is already a freshman on varsity with three more years left of high school!
