This interview took place on November 4th, 2023 where I got to learn about an outstanding student and cheerleader Rose Kotz. Rose is a Lucy Becklam student and also does Lucy Becklam JV cheerleading for competitions and games. She is fifteen years old and a Freshman in high school. Rose is an outgoing person. She is a people pleaser and is kind to everyone. A quote Rose used to describe herself is, “A truly good person is not afraid to be themselves.” She says that everyone should be themselves and that makes them a better person. She shows up to football games and all kinds of school events. Her goals are good grades and for her team to win state for cheerleading. After school, Rose often hangs out with friends and has cheer practice every day of the week after school for 2 hours. Rose’s favorite thing about cheer is that it challenges her to get better at it and make new friends along the way. Competitions for Rose are fun but stressful. Rose is a very hard-working person and will do everything it takes to have fun but also win. Rose has cheered since 8th grade. She started the 8th-grade year as an alternative for competitions but still made it to all the game days. Rose loves it here in Charleston but she says If she could live anywhere else it would be Italy or Greece. In five years Rose does not see herself still cheerleading. She sees herself wanting to try out a different sport and focusing hard on school because she wants to go to college. Rose’s motivation to work hard in life is the thought of living life to the fullest. Rose looks up to Jesus in life and God. A typical day for Rose looks like going to school and then having cheerleading practice for 2 hours after that she goes to youth group some days or straight home then does homework, shower, then dinner, and then a good night’s sleep. Overall Rose enjoys cheerleading and would like to do it again next year.
