Eita Suzuki moved to America during the Spring of 2022 and explains his adventure to Bengal Beat reporter, Thomas Read. The most exciting part of his life in America was definitely traveling to the Grand Canyon in Arizona, followed by a trip to Las Vegas. His least exciting memory has been the food and missing Japanese cuisine at home. One of his favorite activities here is going to Starbucks with all of his good friends. He says he dislikes English because the pronunciations are “Crazy!” He also says that he is going to miss America a lot, especially his new friends and being able to see them everyday. Eita’s favorite class is math because he likes solving equations and excels at it. Although he was nervous to come to America because of what he has read about gun crises, he rates his overall experience in America as a 10/10 and would love to visit again.
During his childhood in Japan, he went to school, to the park with his friends, and played soccer. He also loved playing his Nintendo D/S with his buddies. He says that in contrast to America, most Japanese people are relatively serious, so he didn’t fit in so well, but in America, the people are very friendly and easy to get along with. Eita moved here because his father is involved in building a large cable in the ocean. He has been here for a year and a half and wishes he could stay longer.
Eita suggests that people who are visiting Japan should visit Tokyo because it is the most fun place to be; there are so many people and different kinds of food; on rare occasions you can even expect to bump into famous people. His hometown in Japan is called Chiba and is located just outside of Tokyo. Eita says that when he is in Japan there are many times where he feels worried about test bombs being dropped on his town because North Korea often fires them; Eita can hear and feel them. It is fascinating how different life experiences can be in various locations of the world.
Eita leaves Lucy Beckham High School on Dec. 8 and Mt. Pleasant on Dec. 17. Eita will return to Japan for a brief time and then continue his studies in New Zealand with his family.

I first met Eita at the end of my 8th-grade year at Moultrie and he was a shy kid who didn’t speak much English. But now him leaving I can tell that he made lots of new friends and has learned lots of English. I know a lot of people will miss him.
