The Bengal Beat met with Ms. Leopper this month to shine a light on all the great work she does at Beckham. Her whole career she had been a teacher and worked in different aspects of education. She worked at Moultrie Middle School for about six years through the pandemic. After the pandemic, Leopper started to look around for a job that would involve working with kids but didn’t involve being in a classroom. She said while being interviewed, “I love working with kids, that is my favorite thing ever.” She eventually got the certification to become a career specialist which is her title here at Lucy Beckham. She has been a career specialist for three years now and loves it. She explained that this job has taught her to be more sympathetic to people’s situations and to try to help them work through them. Ms. Leopper said that there is nothing she would change about her job other than the pressure students put on themselves. She said, “If college is not for you, that is okay and you’re going to be okay. College is always going to be there and there are so many options out there.” That is what Ms. Leopper does at Beckham, she helps students find what they want to do after high school. Whether that be going to college or working, she has your back!
