There are so many jobs that go on around our school that go unnoticed. One of those jobs is the school SRO position and under the spotlight in this article is Officer Ransom. To start, Officer Ransom does so much for the school, including keeping the community safe, coaching the football, track, and JV basketball teams, and making sure everyone feels welcome inside the learning environment. In an interview with him, he gave a rundown of his life as a school resource officer. His official title is Senior Police Officer, he has spent all of his 9 years as a cop with the Mount Pleasant Police Department. On the weekends he works and enjoys spending time with friends. When he was asked what his favorite and least favorite parts of his days are, he replied “The best part of my day is talking with students and the worst part is watching students make bad decisions”. After that, he answered where he would want to be in 15 years, “Seeing as I’ve already got 9 years under my belt, I would hope I am close to retiring”. His personal goal isn’t what it would seem as a police officer, he challenges himself to read 1 book a month. When Officer Ransom was around 7 years old, he knew he wanted to work as a police officer and when he was old enough, he fulfilled that dream. He says “I joined the police force so I could impact kids, Positively”. Lastly, the interview ended with “How do you relax at work” He responded with “I don’t, dude”. If students see Officer Ransom walking around our campus, go say hello and give him a fist bump.
