Titles from the 23/24 season
Because rugby in Charleston County is a lesser-known sport, some might be surprised to know that it still has a strong and committed following. Last year the Lucy Beckham Bengals led the charge for the rugby club to claim not only the Davis Shepherd Cup but also a state title. With a team of mostly freshmen and sophomores, this young club showed that they have the fighting spirit needed to compete with other teams.
Upcoming Events
With the start of the new rugby season coming up this winter, the Bengals rugby team will be hosting many meetings for information regarding the team. If you are interested in trying this sport, please stop by or talk to existing members of the team! They are more than happy to introduce and help you out! When practices start, they will be hosted from 5-7 p.m. on Whipple Road by the tennis courts. All are welcome!
Why Join?
Rugby is an amazing sport with endless benefits. The sport is played at all levels, and is ranked seventh for the most played sport in the world. While it’s physically demanding, everyone on the Beckam team is there to support and help each other succeed. Participating opens up future opportunities; plenty of colleges both within the U.S. and abroad have a variety of rugby programs. Rugby is usually played in a standard 15 vs 15 match, but if you prefer something much faster there are also 7v7 and 10v10 games available. Come check it out this winter season!
