August Sports Recap
Hey Bengals! Welcome to the first sports recap of the Bengal Beat! We have a recap for you covering football, girls volleyball, and even boys volleyball.
This past month the Bengals have gotten off to a strong start in athletics, including our first boys varsity volleyball and football teams. The football team began their season with a dominant win over the Lake Marion Gators, 24-0. Following this win the Bengals had “The Battle of Mount Pleasant”, a big rivalry game vs Wando High School right down the road. The Bengals came on top 8-6 after a hard fought battle against the warriors. Discussing how the team works well together, senior player Owen Davey says, “So I think mentally we just have to be prepared. We can’t just second-guess ourselves with every step we take. We just have to adjust ourselves and not only trust ourselves but trust our teammates as well because it’s not going to be an individual making every single play out there, you’re going to have to work together.”
The Bengals have many more games to come, including a big homecoming game against Hilton Head on October 14. Don’t forget to come out and support the Bengals at any upcoming games under the Friday Night Lights!
Last year, Beckham only had a girls varsity volleyball team. This year, there is boys varsity volleyball too! The girls and boys have both started their seasons with big wins over Oceanside, Wando, and region opponents such as May River and Bluffton. Don’t forget to come out and support the Bengals at any upcoming games or football under the Friday Night Lights!
