Friday night is a great night for a football game, but have you considered checking out the stage? The theater department is run by Miss. Goodman who also teaches personal finance and she is   starting off the  season strong  with the fall play in December. The play is called Airport Encounters and it is sure to be a hit. Although this will not be the first time this year that the theater department has performed this year. In early September the theater performed a Cabaret night with songs and scenes from different Broadway shows. The night was a success and there are sure to be many more Cabrets in the future. Harley Smith a sophomore at beckham says she “Likes how inclusive theater is and everyone can express themselves without judgment.” She has been participating in theater since she was seven outside of beckham but started theater at Beckham last year. Ms. Goodman was excited to share her thoughts about the future of theater at Beckham a few questions about Beckham theater and what we can expect going forward.

When I asked her what she wanted to get out of beckham theater Ms. Goodman said that she hoped that the class would be student centered and offer opportunities for everyone to express themselves on stage.opportunities for students to express themselves on stage. She also added that she wanted “theater to be diverse and have anyone who wants to be involved in theater not just if you are in theater at school.” I also asked her questions about why she chose fall play? She stated the reason she choose it was because “ The play features a lot of diverse characters with different backgrounds and there are many people in the theater program who fit these diverse characters.”

Theater has something for everyone and is perfect for the whole family to go out and see a show. Beckham at theater is alive and thriving and their are many new things to come. From cabrets, to shows, to the spring musical Beckhams theater will be bigger and better than ever.
